Property Settlements

There is no “one size fits all” in relation to the division of assets and liabilities after a separation.

We strongly recommend that you seek advice from a family law specialist early to discuss your property settlement. Your case will be different from friends or family members that have gone through a separation. We can provide you with advice about the appropriate outcomes in your specific circumstances.

In our experience, people rarely achieve a better outcome from going to Court. Provided both parties are obtaining appropriate legal and financial advice they are almost certain to save time and money by seeking to resolve their matter outside of Court.

There are several ways you and your former partner can reach agreement without having to set foot in a Court room:

  1. Private negotiation between you both.
  2. Mediation.
  3. Collaboration.
  4. Negotiation through legal representatives.

We can provide you with advice at every stage and in the event the matter is resolved then we can assist you in formalising the agreement.

If your matter cannot be resolved through any of these measures and court action is required, or if you are already involved in Court proceedings, we can still assist you. Please contact us to discuss further.
